Information on materials

Wood

Wood is one of the main material in furniture making, which of course is particularly true when the furniture referred to is made of strong, genuine wood. In current normal usage, the term wood mainly alludes to the trunks, branches and twigs of trees and bushes, so the trees and bushes referred to are also referred to as woody plants. As far as social history is concerned, the alleged woody plants are among the most established useful plants, regardless of whether they were initially used basically as a fuel. Today, wood is used for a wide variety of mechanical purposes, and furniture making is perhaps the primary type of use. Most likely the main advantages of this raw material, though, is how wood is an inexhaustible raw material. Regarding the development activity, it can also be noted that wood is not simply used to make excellent furnishings, but also takes on a significant part as an alleged structural material, mechanical wood, development material and interior fitting material. . In the interior development space, wood is used, for example, to cover roofs and partitions, for the floor plan such as boards or parquet, all other things being equal, and of course for the formation of related furniture or furnishings. Whenever reused wood is used, the alleged piece of wood is regularly discussed, which is also used for furniture making and in building joinery. Creating entrances is also a choice here. Reclaimed wood as a previous structure, then again, is often used for making furniture and outdoor furniture. This furniture is particularly suited to the ranch style home style and all elegant and pitiful trim lines.

Metals

Metal is a material that plays a more or less important role in the furniture industry, depending on the individual style of furniture, and is used mainly in what is called industrial style. As an accessory material for hinges and fittings, however, it plays an important role in almost every style. A fundamental distinction is made in chemical terms between the so-called metals, non-metals, semi-metals, alloys and precious metals, with precious metals playing no role or only subordinate roles in furniture production, for example in very high regard. - quality fittings and other decorations that are gilded or silver plated, or renovation and restoration of antique furniture. Furthermore, metals are also differentiated according to their density, so that to some extent light metals and the so-called base metals also play a role. A well-known light metal is aluminum. In the furniture industry, so-called alloys are used for accessories and substructures such as table legs, frames or frames, as these have a much higher strength than pure metal. One of the most important alloys used here is steel, which consists mainly of iron with various additives. Iron itself also plays an important role, although it is included in the transition metal and is mainly used for the production of steel and cast iron.

Leather

Basically, it should always be remembered that there is no such thing as uniform leather furniture, although more than one-third of all purchased upholstered furniture has a leather covering. However, customers can also assume that cowhide is usually used for the production of leather covers. In rare cases, sheepskin can also be used. However, the latter is often a custom-made or imported item, as the typical European furniture store rarely or completely finds sheepskin upholstered furniture. Nonetheless, there is no uniform furniture leather itself, but there are many different types of leather which ultimately all lead to the use of cowhide. Therefore, the actual tanning process is important, where the leather has special characteristics. In addition, leather types or leather types differ not only in the tanning process, but also in the respective dyeing and manufacturing processes, which in turn also affect the price of leather and also the price of finished goods. furniture. The market today offers almost everything you could want, from high-quality aniline leather to layered split leather and the so-called artificial leather, the latter being not leather, but fabric. Faux leather - the name says it all - is not "real" natural leather. Leather coverings, which are used in the production of high-quality furniture, usually consist of the so-called smooth leather.

MDF

In furniture production, MDF is understood as raw panels, which are covered with fiberboard of various thicknesses. This fiberboard is then used, among other things, for back walls or as fill. Every now and then they also appeared at the front. Thus - theoretically - a whole set of furniture can be made of MDF, with a filler pressed into the panels not only used for the production of a system of cabinets and cabinets, but also as a covering panel or even a table top. In addition, these fillers are also used to create and shape what is called profile decoration, as it is then installed on the front of the kitchen. Another advantage of this MDF panel is its very high tensile and bending strength. In addition, they can be treated with a wide variety of colors and even varnishes, which in turn result in very smooth, clean edges that can also be very well profiled. The great advantage of MDF board is that it is hygroscopic and therefore does not swell on contact with water or other moisture. So, they or MDF fillers in general - in any form - are perfect for the production of furniture for kitchens and bathrooms. Essentially, it is a wood-based material that is used either as a direct fill material or - more often - as a pressboard, although it should be noted that various additives can be used here.

Fabric material

The main fabrics used in the manufacture of furniture include linen and velvet. In addition, various brocade fabrics as well as artificial leather and the so-called PU are used. Recently, acrylic cloth has also become important and is mainly used for outdoor furniture. Let us remind you of the Sunbrella brand products, which are mainly used for high quality furniture series made of construction wood, waste wood and scaffolding wood. Sunbrella brand fabrics offer a wide selection for all imaginable uses, as the complete range from the manufacturer includes, among other things, fabric covers for awnings and fabrics for awnings in a variety of colors and structures. But also upholstery for garden furniture is available in a wide range, so light and natural colors and very intense bright colors are available here. Brocade fabric is also frequently used as an upholstery in the furniture industry, with the main focus here on upholstered furniture making. Brocade can be used, for example, to cover chairs, upholstered chairs and armchairs, but also for armchairs and sofas. Likewise, velvet and linen are also used here, so interested parties are spoiled for choice when choosing their favorite furniture. Like brocade, velvet is an often heavy and warming material. It is therefore suitable, for example, for seating furniture mainly used in larger rooms. The same is true for synthetic leather.
